Scenario: You are the CEO of MegaGlobe Business Solutions, a financial consulting corporation based in Chicago that has just recently opened new offices in São Paulo, Brazil and Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. As part of this transition, your employees will now be working collaboratively with employees at these locations to provide financial consulting services in these new markets. To assist with the transition, you will develop an internal leadership blog for your employees that addresses the implications of leading within a culturally-diverse and changing global business environment. This blog should focus on the need to positively adapt to a variety of leadership styles and individual differences within these cultures.

    Leadership is the quality that enables a manager to exert a positive influence over the behaviour of his subordinates. One of the qualities of a good leaders is adaptability which is the ability to change ones action in the light of what is necessary in changed circumstances. This is a most valuable characteristics in the modern business world which is subject to such rapid changes. The following are the variety of leadership styles available

    Laissez - faire : This leadership styles focuse more on the delegation of duties to members of a team without supervising their performance on the job because such team members are considered to be more experienced on the job in which supervising their job is no longer necessary.

    Bureaucratic : This kind of leadership styles place more emphasis on rules and procedures as it is written down in the organization in which subordinates are expected to obey the rules and procedures

    Authoritarian : This is a kind of leadership styles in which orders are issued and are expected to be obeyed without question and all decisions are made by the leaders.

    Democratic : This is a kind of leadership styles which allows the subordinates to take part in the decision making process while the management still maintain their ultimate responsibility and authority.

    However, having identified these various leadership styles, it must be said that leadership must concentrate on designing a social environment within an organization that aids individual efforts to achieve organizational goals. These social environment should concerned with needs and wants of the individuals and the factors that could stimulate them to achieve the goals of the organization. It should also include the influence which colleagues of the workers could have on the workers altitude and behaviour in the work process. Therefore, the management of the organization should develop an informal aspect of the organization structure which will focuse more on the patterns of behaviour and norms which will come into play in the process of social interaction of the workers in their culturally diverse and changing business environment.
