The flags used in Jean-Ulrick Désert's the burqa project represent the following western countries:

    - Germany

    - France

    - United States of America

    - United Kingdom

In Jean Ulrick-Désert's the burqa project, the national flags from the aforementioned four leading industrial nations are used as the basis for replicating the Afghanistan hijab known as The Burqa. The project was created in light of the New York City attacks of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
