All five statements are correct. A white dwarf was initially a swollen up red star, which eventually shed their outer layers to become a super-dense white dwarf. This does not happen to all stars. It only happens when low-mass stars such as the sun collapse and eventually shed their outer layers. It is so dense that it has a great gravitational field and hence attracts matter near it. Eventually the white dwarf cools down by radiating away all its energy and becomes a black dwarf.
