    C) are subject to deterioration and spoilage

    Explanation:

Dairy items, fresh fruit and newspapers all have very short expiration dates.

A newspaper is only good for a very small period of time, old news is no news. That is why newspaper have been losing sales since people want to know what is happening at this exact moment (internet news sites). A newspaper is old by midday and an ancient relic by midnight.

Fresh fruit are only good for sale for a few days at most before they start to rot and people don't like rotten fruit.

Dairy items last a little longer; milk sold in boxes can last a few months and other dairy products can last a couple of weeks or even a couple of months. But they still need to be stored at low temperatures to prevent deterioration and spoilage.
