    Explanation:

    The social learning theory lays emphasis upon observational learning i. e learning from observing others actions and the consequences of those actions.

    In context of leadership, the theory applies in the sense that, subordinates learning is an outcome of the interaction between behavioral attributes shared between them and their leaders.

    So, a leaders own performance motivates and trickles down to his immediate subordinates, moulds their behavior and governs their ultimate performance.

    So, if a leader works sincerely and diligently, it rubs on to his subordinates and some of it gets ingrained in the subordinates behavior. Similarly, if a leader sets a bad example such as always arriving late, this would also cast a direct effect on the subordinates punctuality.
