    The European Economic Community (EEC) is indeed a global body whose objective was to set in economic cooperation between its member countries. It was established through the 1957 Treaty of Rome. The original goal of the Group was to carry about economic cooperation among its six founders, including a single market and monetary union: France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands as well as West Germany.

    After the Maastricht Treaty came into group in 1993, the EEC was called the European Union to demonstrate that it addressed a broader array than just economic policy.
