Generalization and specialization are both work structures. Generalization means one person does many things. For example, in ancient times each family grew their own vegetables, built their own buildings, and took care of their own farms. Specialization means each person does individual tasks like doctor, teacher, lawyer, cab driver, etc and relies on other specialists to provide the things that they cannot do (or don't have time to do).
