Food and energy are delivered to the skin cells through intergumentary system. This involves provision of the capillary networks that surround the cells with nutrient via blood. Where there is no cell-capillary contact, the nutrients enter the body cells through diffusion. The skin use the supplied nutrients to produce the energy it needs. This is method is effective because skin cells are low energy cells.
