    The correct answer is B. "They can accept a hydrogen ion". A Bronsted lowry base is any species with a lone pair of electrons which allows it to attract a hydrogen ion. Clearly, it does not have to be charged or neutral to be considered a Bronsted Lowry base. Henceforth, D and E are incorrect because they assume that the species has to have a certain charge. On the other hand, a Bronsted Lowry acid is any species that can donate a hydrogen ion. A relates to a Bronsted Lowry acid.
