The thymus serves a vital role in training and development of T-lymphocytes (T Cells), which is an extremely important type of white blood cell. The defend our bodies from potentially deadly pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Other functions of the thymus gland are containing glandular tissues and producing hormones, but not its main function.
