Sublimation is when particles from a solid transition directly to gas. Deposition is the opposite. You can think of deposition as the gas * deposit*ing molecules into the solid form. One common form of sublimation is carbon dioxide. When it's frozen, it's known as dry ice, because it doesn't melt, it sublimates, with no liquid (wet) form at room pressure.
