A compound is analyzed and found to contain 36.70% potassium, 33.27% chlorine, and 30.03% oxygen. What is the empirical formula of the compound?

    We assume all the percentages are equal to the mass for 100g of sample so:

    36.70/30.03=1.21

    33.27/30.03=1.11

    30.03/30.03=1

    Rounded to nearest whole number it becomes KClO
