In every reaction, bonds are broken and new ones are formed with the energy released or absorbed.

Exergonic reaction: As the name implies, in such reaction energy is released to the surrounding during bond breakage and formation. In this case, the bond formed is stronger than the bond broken.

Endergonic reaction: This kind of reaction involves the absorption or intake of energy from the surrounding to the system during bond breakage and formation. In this case, the formed bond is weaker than the bond broken.
