Why is density considered a physical property rather than a chemical property of matter?

    Density is considered a physical property because it can be found without changing the composition of the substance, by dividing the object's mass by its volume. There is no chemical change occurring.

    A chemical rxn changes the make up of a substance on a molecular level. Sense density is observing the physical properties such as weight and volume and not the chemical make up it is therefore a physical property.
