What is the difference between a compound and mixture?

An element is a single atom, while a compound is a molecule consisting of at least two different types of elements that cannot be physically separated. A mixture contains at least two different kinds of molecules or elements that can be physically separated. An elements is a substance in which - same type of atoms added together : H2, Na, C, & Ne. A compound is a substance in which different atoms added together in a fixed ratio.

A compound is formed when two or more substances are chemically combined through a chemical reaction. The components of a mixture can be separated with relative ease, whereas the components of a compound are almost impossible to separate without a chemical reaction.
