    Explanation:

    When we add ice in a drink then heat energy present in the drink will be absorbed by the ice. As a result, the ice tends to melt (change into liquid state).

    Due to the melting of ice a cooling effect is observed because heat from the drink has been transferred to the ice. This melting of ice will continue until an equilibrium has reached, that is, temperature of both the liquids will become equal.

    Thus, we can conclude that ice cools down a drink because heat is absorbed from the drink to melt the ice cubes.
