Na2C03 10H2O is hydrated sodium carbonate salt or sodium carbonate with water of crystallisation.
Explanation:
The water atoms which are a piece of the structure of a precious stone of salt are called Water of crystallization. The regular name and synthetic equation of an industrially significant compound which has ten water particles is Sodium Carbonate [washing soda]
Na2CO3.10H2O
Preparation:
A cold and Concentrated Solution of Sodium chloride is responded with Ammonia and Carbon dioxide to get Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate.
NaCl + NH3 + H2O+CO2 - >NaHCO3 + NH4Cl
Sodium Hydrogenarbonate is isolated by filtration, dried and warmed. On warming, sodium hydrogen carbonate deteriorates to frame Sodium carbonate.
2NaHCO3 - > Na2CO3 + CO2 + H2O
Anhydrous sodium carbonate is broken down in water and to get 10 atoms of water of crystallization.
Na2CO3+10H2O - >Na2CO3.10H2O
