Sodium hydroxide is extremely soluble in water. At a certain temperature, a saturated solution contains 567 g of NaOH (s) per liter of solution. Calculate the molarity of this saturated NaOH (aq) solution

    Explanation:

    Amount = Concentration * Volume

    But volume is 1 litre as stated in the question

    And amount = mass / molar mass

    Molar mass of NaOH = 23+16+1=40gmol-1

    Amount of NaOH = 567/40=14.2moles

    But concentration = amount/volume

    Hence molarity = 14.2/1 = 14.2M
