What is the difference between a strong and weak base? select the best choice below to explain the difference. choose one:

a. strong bases are strong electrolytes and are completely ionized in solution. weak bases are weak electrolytes and produce limited quantities of the hydrogen ion h + (aq).

b. strong bases are strong electrolytes and are completely ionized in solution. weak bases are weak electrolytes and are only partially ionized in solution.

c. strong bases are strong electrolytes and produce abundant quantities of the hydrogen ion h + (aq). weak bases are weak electrolytes and are only partially ionized in solution.

d. none of the above.

Correct answer is B. Bases ionize to produce hydroxide ions and acids ionize to produce protons / H + ions.

Strong bases are those that can completely ionize and produce OH - ions.

However weak bases can only partially ionise and they will only produce a fraction of the OH - ions. They don’t completely ionize.

    Therefore correct option is

    b. strong bases are strong electrolytes and are completely ionized in solution. weak bases are weak electrolytes and are only partially ionized in solution.
