A Gas and a new liquid were formed. The gas escaped, so the student was unable to measure the mass. She guessed that its mass was more than 10.0 grams. Here data is Below:

Liquid Reactant A - 22.0

Liquid Reactant B - 9.0

Liquid Product - 17.2

Gas Product - ?

Is the students guess about the mass of the gas correct?

    The answer is C.

Explanation: The law of conservation of matter states that matter can neither be created or destroyed. Since the two liquids combined were 31 grams (22.0 + 9.0), this means that the product of the reaction must also equal 31 grams all together. Therefore, since the liquid was 17.2 grams, the gas must be 13.8 grams in order for them to add up to 31
