    The quantum numbers represent a way to find where the electron is more probably to be, they represent then the orbital and were proposed by the quantum atomic model. There are four quantum numbers:

    Principal quantum number (n) - It represents the shell, or level, of the electron, and it represents by the letters K, L, M, N, O, P, and Q, or by the number 1 to 7. Each level has a maximum amount of electrons that it can have; Azimuthal quantum number (l) - It represents the subshell, or sublevel, of the electron, it is represented by the letters s, p, d, f, g, h, i ... And by the numbers 0,1,2,3 ... The maximum number of l is n-1; Magnetic quantum number (m) - It represents the orbital. Each orbital may have at least 2 electrons. It goes from - l to + l passing by the 0; Spin (s) - It represents the spin of the electron at the orbital. It can be + 1/2 or - 1/2.

    So, for n = 3, the maximum number of l is 3-1 = 2, so, the possible values of l are 0,1, and 2.
