Metals conduct heat utilising their metallic structure. According to which all the valence electrons form a sea of electrons which can travel freely amongst all the atoms in a metal because of which Heat from end of the metal can readily be transferred to the other end via the electrons. Furthermore as the atoms are densely packed the heat will cause them to vibrate more these vibrations can rapidly be transferred down the metal through conduction.
