Chemical reactions involves the making and breaking of bonds between atoms while a nuclear reaction involves changes in the nucleus of atoms.

    Explanation:

In a chemical reaction, the energy release is just a matter of a few kilojoules but nuclear reactions release tremendous energy in megajoules capable of destroying entire cities. Chemical reactions are affected by temperature and pressure of reactants but a nuclear reaction is unaffected by those factors. A nuclear reaction could be self sustaining as long as the reaction is carefully controlled.
