1. If 25 grams of carbon dioxide gas is produced in this reaction, how many grams of sodium hydroxide should be produced? NaHCO3 > NaOH + CO2. If 50 grams of sodium hydroxide are produced, what is the percent yield?

    23 grams NaOH with significant figures; 220 % yield

    Explanation:

    25 g CO2/44.01 g CO2*40.00 g NaOH = 23 grams of NaOH

    % yield = (actual yield/theoretical yield) * 100 = (50 g NaOH/23 g NaOH) * 100 = 220 % yield

    I rounded in the problem for when I wrote it down, but I left the original number in my calculator for solving for the percent yield. I think the percent yield sig figs are off because I do not know if you (the person asking) are allowed to put this in scientific notation to make this have the correct number of sig figs which is two of them.
