Exothermic reactions produce heat. In Endothermic reactions, molecular bonds gets broken and new molecular bonds may possibly form. So energy is needed to be stored in these bonds, so through endothermic reactions, surrounding energy is absorbed in the bonds and the temperature of the surroundings drops.
