When will oppositely charged atoms stick together?

    The electrostatic force of attraction present between the oppositely charged atoms or ions makes them stick together. Generally, atoms are electrically neutral (have equal number of electrons and protons). However, if an atom loses or gains an electron it will become a charged atom or ion.
