A liter of the gas mixture at equilibrium contains 0.0045 mol of N2O4 and 0.030 mol of NO2 at 10C. Write the expression for the equilibrium constant (Keq) and calculate the value of the constant for the reaction.

    Keq = [NO₂]²/[N₂O₄] = 0.2.

    Explanation:

    For the gas mixture equilibrium:

    N₂O₄ ⇄ 2NO₂

    The expression of the equilibrium constant (Keq):

    Keq = [NO₂]²/[N₂O₄]

    ∴ Keq = [NO₂]²/[N₂O₄] = (0.03) ² / (0.0045) = 0.2.
