The average rate of disappearance of ozone in the reaction 2O3 (g) → 3 O2 (g) is found to be 7.91*10-3 atm over a certain interval of time. What is the rate of appearance of O2 during this interval?

    (d[O₂] / dt) is the rate of appearance of O₂.

    ∴ The rate of appearance of O₂ = (d[O₂] / dt) = ( - 3d[O₃] / 2dt) = 3 (the rate of disappearance of ozone) / 2 = [3 (7.91 * 10⁻³ atm over a certain interval of time] / 2 = 11.865 x 10⁻³ atm over a certain interval of time.
