    The prefix femto (symbol f) means 10^ (-15), so one femtosecond (1 fs) equals 1 x 10^ (-15) s.

    ∴ Time = 12 fs x [10^ (-15) s/1 fs] = 12 x 10^ (-15) s = 1.2 x 10^ (-14) s
