    Cyanide binds with the A3 portion of the cytochrome oxidase enzyme, this prevents the cells from using oxygen, this affects the mitochondrial electron transport chain with the cells. This affects the process of ATP synthesis as the electron transport chain will be inhibited. The cells will die in the absence of oxygen and ATP.
