During the crystallization of acetaminophen, why was the mixture cooled in an ice bath?

    The process of crystallization is basically a condensation process. The first step is to create a supersaturated solution. This is a solution that contains more solute than its capacity. This is made possible because you heat the solution. Afterwhich, you have to cool the solution so that you can turn the liquid solute into solid. The drop in temperature makes the molecules conform to the arranged and compact order of a solid.
