    Concentration difference is stated as one of the driving forces promoting osmosis, of course, taking into account that there is a semipermeable membrane which allows the solute's transfer between the membranes. Now, since one of the sides has a higher solute's concentration, a force will be present in order to attain the equilibrium (that is the driving force) which is based on no change in the solute's concentration along the time, allowing one side to increase the solute's concentration and the other side to diminish it to match it.
