    When a charged object is placed near a neutral object then it will induce an opposite charge on the neutral object. This process in known as induction.

    Also, it is known that like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other.

    Therefore, when objects of opposite charges come in contact with each other then they attract each other. On the other hand, charged object will be attracted to an object with neutral charge.
