    Yes, absolutely.

    Explanation:

    If an environment changes from water and trees, to lava and heat, the organisms that were surviving in that environment (prior to the disruption of that environment) Adapted to the environment being full of water and vegetation. So they now have to start adapting (by the process of natural selection) to that new hot environment.
