A polar covalent bond is a specific type of covalent bond, where the distribution or the sharing of valence electrons among the atoms involved in the bond are not the same and or equal. There is a greater pull of electron density to one atom than that of the other causing atoms to experience a partial positive and negative charge.

The electronegativity difference is typically large between the atoms that show polar bonding.
