For gamma radiation, what stops its penetrating abilities?

    lead, concrete or steel. Gamma rays have a very small wavelength and therefore can penetrate most objects including walls, windows and the like. To fully protect an object inside an enclosure, heavily reinforced feet of concrete, steel and/or lead should be sufficient.
