The temperature on the surface of the Earth is warmer than the temperature in the upper atmosphere of the Earth. When the heat of the Sun evaporates the water from lakes, oceans, seas etc water vapours go towards the upper atmosphere and condense to form clouds because the temperature in the upper atmosphere is less. As a result water vapours condense which results in the formation of clouds.
