Cross breeding different types of animals of your desire. (not all will successfully work) But yes it's possible you can make your own pet.

You can breed different animals, like dogs or cats. and experiment what breeds you get. Or you can buy the toy pets that you leave in water and they grow into pets. (not alive of course)
Maybe experiment more and research!
