    Nuclides with too many neutrons to be in the band of stability are most likely to decay by beta particle emission. A beta particle is a high speed electron thus a particle which has high energy. This emission involves a beta ray and a neutrino from the process. With this type of emission, unstable atoms would have a more stable ratio of neutrons to protons.
