Determine the volume occupied by 0.582 mol of a gas at 15 degrees Celsius if the pressure is 81.8 KPA?

    Ideal gas law:

    PV=nRT ⇒V = (nRT) / P

    P=pressure

    V=volume

    n=number of moles

    R=gas constant = 0.082 atm. litres/ºK mol

    T=temperature

    P=81.8 Kpa * (1 atm / 101.325 Kpa) ≈0.81 atm.

    n=0.582 moles

    T=15+273.15=288.15ºK

    R=0.082 atm. litres/ªKmol

    V = (0.582 moles*0.082 atm l/ºKmol * 288.15ºK) / 0.81 atm≈17.04 litres.

    Sol: 17.04 litres.
