    Chemical shorthands are simply chemical symbols which are derieved from the English or latin or Greek names of elements. For example, in writing a chemical reaction, instead of writing the element iron, we simply write Fe which is shorthand form.

    For the molecules of Iodine:

    Iodine is in the halogen group on the periodic table. It's shorthand form is designated as I. A molecule of Iodine is written as I₂.

    For the molecules of fluorine:

    Fluorine is also an halogen. It is represented by the symbol F. A molecule of fluorine is written as F₂.
