    Answer: 2.81 litres

    Explanation:

    Given that:

    initial volume of nitrogen V1 = 4.50L

    initial pressure P1 = 1.25 atm

    new volume V2 = ?

    new pressure P2 = 2.00 atm

    Since, only pressure and volume are involved, apply the formula for Boyle's law

    P1V1 = P2V2

    1.25 atm x 4.50L = 2.00 atm x V2

    5.625 = 2.00V2

    Divide both sides by 2.00

    5.625/2.00 = 2.00V2/2.00

    2.8125L = V2 (rounded to the nearest hundredth as 2.81 liters)

    The new volume of nitrogen will be 2.81 litres
