An ionic bond is formed in Al2 (CO3) 3

    Explanation:

Al2 (CO3) 3 aluminium carbonate is the aluminium salt of carbonic acid. A chemical bond is said to ionic if the bond is formed due to the electrostatic attraction between any two oppositely charged bodies. Ionic bonding is the interaction that takes place between anions and cations in ionic compounds. The formula of aluminium carbonate - Al2 (CO3) 3 denotes that there are 3 carbonate ions for every 2 aluminium ions. Aluminium is a metal and loses three electrons and forms a 3+cation. Carbonate is polyatomic anion with formula CO2-3. Hence, an ionic bond is formed between the aluminium cation and carbonate anion
