The "s" sublevel has 1 orbital, with a maximum of 2 electrons.

The "p" sublevel has 3 orbitals, with a maximum of 6 electrons.

The "d" sublevel has 5 orbitals, with a maximum of 10 electrons.

The "f" sublevel has 7 orbitals, with a maximum of 14 electrons.

The "g" sublevel has 9 orbitals, with a maximum of 18 electrons.

Looking at this, you can tell that there's a pattern. After s, p, d, and f, the letters continue in alphabetical order. Every following letter has 2 more orbitals than the previous letter. The maximum number of electrons can be found by multiplying that orbital number by 2.
