How many electrons would need to be added to fill the outermost energy level of hydrogen? of oxygen?

    Usually, the octet is formed when 8 valence electrons are for it to maintain a stable electron configuration.

    Oxygen has 6, so it needs 2 more.

    Hydrogen, however, only needs 2 to form an octet, so it only needs one more electron.
