Know and be able to identify the different properties of minerals

Color

Streak. (What color is the line it leaves behind?)

Hardness (how hard or soft the mineral is)

Lust (the way the mineral reflects light)

Florescence. (Does it glow under UV light?)

Magnetism. (Is it magnetic?)

Cleavage or fracture. Does it break evenly? (Cleavage) Or does it shatter into several pieces? (Fracture)

Crystalline structure (What is its shape?)

Taste. What does it taste like? (Do not use this)

Odor. (What does it smell like?)

Transparency. (Can you see through it?)
