A balloon with a volume of 5.0 L at a pressure of 94.2 kPa expands until its volume doubles. What is the new pressure of the gas in the balloon?

    V1 = 5.0L

    P1 = 94.2kPa = 94.2*10³Pa

    V2 = 2V1 = 2 * 5.0 = 10L

    To solve this question, we'll have to use Boyle's law which states that the volume of a fixed mass of gas is inversely proportional to its pressure provided that temperature remains constant

    Mathematically,

    V = k/P, k = PV

    P1V1 = P2V2 = P3V3 = ... = PnVn

    P1V1 = P2V2

    Solve for P2

    P2 = (P1 * V1) / V2

    P2 = (94.2*10³ * 5.0) / 10
