General formula that represents the homologous series of hydrocarbons that includes the compound l-heptyne is CnH ₂n-₂.

    Explanation:

1-Heptyne belongs to alkyne. As alkynes have a Hydrogen Deficiencey Index of 2, means if four hydrogen atoms are added to alkyne they will convert into alkanes with a general formula CnH₂n+₂. Therefore, any aliphatic carbon chain with a triple bond between two carbon atoms and general formula CnH₂n-₂ belongs to alkynes.
