Plastic bags are required to contain warnings after showing from several studies that they are a suffocation risk. For plastic bags with a thickness of less than one mil (1/1000 inch) having an opening size of five inches or more, the following warning statement will meet the requirements of all state and local laws: "Warning: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children. Do not use this bag in cribs, beds, carriages, or playpens. This bag is not a toy."
