In a nuclear power plant, where are fuel rods found and what function do they perform?

    In a nuclear plant, fuel rods are usually located in the reactor core. A radioactive element, usually uranium is used to generate a nuclear reaction which provide enormous heat and in which water is converted to steam which is utilized to drive turbines.

    The fuel rods contain the pellets of uranium dioxide which releases radioactive energy.
